VW’s Touareg BlueTDI - World’s Cleanest Diesel Engine

Volkswagen s Touareg has one of the cleanest diesel engines in the world. Its BlueTDI engine with SCR catalytic converter reduces nitrogen dioxide (NOx) emissions by up to 90 percent. Touareg BlueTDI delivers 165kW/225 PS and meets even the strictest Tier2 Bin5 exhaust emissions standards implemented in the US states particularly in California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, and Maine.

World’s Coral Reefs Under Threat

“Twenty percent of the world’s coral reefs have been effectively destroyed or show no immediate prospects of recovery,” said the report, issued on the first day of a United Nations environmental conference in Buenos Aires lasting until December 17.


The Status of Coral Reefs of the World 2004 also said that another “24 percent of the world’s reefs are under imminent risk of collapse through human pressures, and a further 26 percent are under a longer-term threat of collapse.”


“The major emerging threat to coral reefs in the past decade has been coral bleaching and mortality associated with global climate change,” it said.

Global Warming? Pah!

So global warming, eh? It’s coming and it’s coming fast. Lock up your daughters and put out the cat for that one last night. Global warming, and the end of the earth, is nigh and we are all to blame.


But, hold for one moment. Yes, there are eminent scientists telling us that we are the cause of this global catastrophe and that, whatever we do, it will happen and will devastate the earth and all that live on it.


But there are conflicting views too, and they hold equal import. Some extremely eminent people (scientists no less) have put forward opposing views on the subject of global warming, the greenhouse effect and man’s contribution to it all.

Environment Carbon Credit “Manufacturing” - A New Industrial Growth Sector

Did you know that companies can now buy and sell “carbon credits” internationally just like other goods and services regularly bought and sold on the international market?


There are two important prerequisites for this new carbon credit business:


1) Your country must have signed the Kyoto Protocol (the United States has still not signed it as of March 2007). These credits are made possible by the Kyoto’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). That’s why sometimes this new line of trading is also referred to simply as “CDM” business.
