New Coal Bed Methane Drilling Technology Could Help Solve China’s Pollution Problems

New Technology to Speed up Alternative Solutions

By degassing China s coal mines, many of the gas explosions at China s coal mines can be reduced. Coal bed methane is actually methane gas present in coal seams. This is the gas that threatens the lives of miners working in underground mines. China emits 6 billion cubic feet of methane gas annually from its mines. Methane gas is released into the atmosphere, from working mines, abandoned mines and through the exhaust system of mines, leading to emission of a greenhouse gas. By releasing the methane trapped inside virgin coal seams, it could instead be captured and used as an energy source.

True Inconvenience

Current talk around town:

Liberal Man on the street: Have you heard the latest news? In 10 years we are all going to die unless we do something! You have got to go see Gore s movie, he proves for sure that the earth is headed for certain disaster, and we are to blame.

Conservative Skeptic: Wait a minute, you went and paid five dollars to see a movie, and now you are convinced we are all doomed?

Liberal Man on the street: You must be one of those uninformed conservatives that are coming from a political perspective, this is a serious moral issue and you are just far too closed minded to understand.

Depletion of Forest Resources

INTRODUCTION

Echo systems around the world help sustain life for millions of species. Echo systems that are mainly forests provide a home for a large majority of the species alive. Therefore the trees in these forests are considered to be the most important species. Although it is true, that most species are not able to sustain without each other.

There are many benefits that we get from our forests. Some of these include cleaner drinking water, a home for plants and animals, economic growth, clean air, recreational opportunities, reassuring future. Another benefit we get from trees is called oxygen. If there were no trees to give us oxygen to breath, we would not be able to

Claims Of Man-Made Global Warming Distract From More Likely Natural Causes

At the 2007 Academy Awards, Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth, which documents the supposedly man-made global climate crisis, won the Oscar for Best Documentary. If mankind is truly responsible for global warming, then Gore himself is one of the biggest contributors. Public records show that each month his 20-room Tennessee mansion uses twice the amount of electricity that an average home uses in a year. So much for leading by example.

But Gore may in fact not be to blame for fluctuations in global temperature. In the past, solar activity has had a huge impact in atmospheric temperatures on the Earth. Perhaps the most famous example of the sun’s influence occurred during the so-called Little Ice Age of 1645-1715 A.D.

Average temperatures dropped dramatically during this period causing rivers to freeze and glaciers to overrun European villages. The Little Ice Age corresponded with a period of extremely low sunspot activity, leading many scientists to believe that the changes in global temperature and solar activity were linked.

A Nuclear Power Plant May Be Next for New Mexico

Federal lawmakers patted themselves on the back, last Friday, in a joint bi-partisan news release issued by three New Mexico politicians: U.S. Senators Pete Domenici and Jeff Bingaman, and U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce. Their celebratory remarks were meant to remind voters why the politicians were in Washington to bring their state new jobs for at least some of New Mexico s voters. While the chorus of praise revolved around creating new jobs and bringing millions of dollars into the state s economy, is there more behind this story, which has not yet been told?
