Alternative Fuel - What Is E85?

If you watched the Olympics, you probably noticed that General Motors launched a major advertising campaign, touting the fact that 1.5 million GM vehicles are able to run on E85, made from corn. If you’re new to the alternative fuel concept, perhaps you were left wondering exactly what E85 is.

The term E85 is derived from the blend of two different fuels, comprised of 85% ethanol (where the term E85 comes from) and 15% petroleum. E85 is able to be used by vehicles that are known as flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs). So what’s the big deal, and why is GM willing to spending many millions of dollars to let people know their vehicles will run on E85?

Site The Greenhouse - Orientation and Location

Before you can build a greenhouse, you must decide where it will be situated. This seems elementary, but careful thought must be given to the location and orientation of the finished greenhouse.

First you must decide the location on your lot. If an attached greenhouse is planned, it must be on the south side of whatever building it is to be attached to. Failing that, a southeast facing is better than a southwest one. Since the sun is shining directly into the greenhouse in the morning when the air temperature is the lowest, a tendency to overheat is reduced. If facing southwest, the greenhouse may overheat on sunny afternoons. North facing greenhouses should be avoided.

BMW’s Hydrogen Fuel Quest

German automaker BMW is on a quest, one that may likely make them the first automaker in the world to produce a fleet of vehicles capable of running on hydrogen fuel. That s right, BMW is leading the way and if all goes as promised the first hydrogen cell powered production BMW will hit the streets in 2008.

Back around 2000, General Motors announced that they would work toward building a fleet of vehicles that could run on hydrogen power. When that announcement was made few thought that hydrogen technology could be successfully tapped and used in a car. However, if it was to come about, most people thought that it would take at least 20 years to come to pass.

Well in that case it is truly essential that we cut down on greenhouse gas emissions and CO2 industrial pollution. Of course everyone must live a carbon free life too. But have you ever considered what on Earth we would do without fossil fuels?

It will not be easy, but luckily humans are a rather tough species in that regard so they would have to; Improvise and Adapt, evolve and get with the new innovations and technologies; basically what mankind always does in crisis. Why do you ask?
